Obituary of Ian Bruce Blackmore

What is left to say now that the storyteller has left us, this time on a journey that takes him far from those who loved him? And boy, he could tell a story, sometimes the same one, every detail precisely as it was the last time he told it. So many great times were shared with this kid from the neighbourhood who grew into a man who kept the memories alive through his stories. He had a long career as a psych nurse and worked in a number of nursing positions including the Mobile Crisis Unit and at Red River Community College. He loved to travel and his wanderlust took him to many European destinations before he settled into a career and regular vacations with Russ to Cuba, a place that he thought of as a second home. He made friends easily, loved deeply and found comfort in his home with his love Russ and their fur babies. He was principled and sometimes unyielding but more importantly he was kind and generous and nothing made him happier than to share a laugh, spend time in his garden and travel to Bulmer family reunions. He is and will be missed deeply. He was the son of Helen and Wayne, brother to Ray (Desiree), an uncle, a cousin, a nephew, life long friend to many and the loving husband of Russ. If there’s an after to all this for Ian, we hope it’s with his dearly loved grandmother (Marge). A celebration of Ian’s life will happen in July.
