Obituary of David Toews

On Sunday, March 19, 2023, David Toews of Winnipeg, Manitoba, a beloved father and brother, lost his battle with COVID. He was 73 years old. He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Rosevita Toews, son-in-law, Kevin Moffatt and his brothers, Peter, Bernhard, Jakob, Erdmann, and sisters, Katharina, Lena, Anna, Neta, and Mika who was at his side until the very end. He was predeceased by his brothers Johann and Martin, and sister Susi. Born in Paraguay and making his way to Canada in his early twenties, he worked hard to make a good life for his family. He was a man of faith. Well known for his strong work ethic. He loved to spend time in nature, fishing, singing, and playing guitar. When he could no longer communicate through spoken words, he continued to communicate through his harmonica. We all felt his spirit through his music. A very heartfelt thank you goes out to all the incredible staff at Concordia Place who made his last years as comfortable as possible. In accordance with his wishes, he will rest in peace in the waters of Lake Winnipeg off the shores of the Sandy Hook pier. There will be a small celebration of life for immediate family members only. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society. Your battle at the end was difficult but you are now at peace. Rest easy.
