Obituary of Valerie Jane Boehler (Kitson)
Valerie Jean Boehler aged 75, passed away suddenly at her home in Winnipeg on March 22, 2023. She has gone on to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mom was born on July 2, 1947 in Emerson, MB. When she was 13 the Boehler family moved to Winnipeg. She married and had two children that she loved, raising them mostly on her own.
She worked hard and sacrificed to make certain that both of us had a home, an education and that we knew Jesus.
She was always willing to put aside her own needs and help others. She helped Melanie raise Mara, she helped her niece Tracey raise her three children and she took care of her own mother, when she could no longer live on her own. When Melanie became ill with cancer, she moved in to take care of her, the children and the home.
In 2015 Mom was on life support due to a heart attack and hours away from dying. Jesus stepped in and gave her eight more wonderful years. She got to see Mara get married and have two beautiful children: Judah and Ophelia who were her pride and joy.
She impacted countless more lives, with her love, sacrifice and by leading them to Jesus. Her smile and sense of humor always brought light and laughter to a room. We shared many laughs, especially on games night with the grand kids, sleepovers and family dinners.
Mom was predeceased by her daughter Melanie, a great-grand child, her father Henry, mother Agatha, sister Florence and brother Ray.
She is survived by her son Darryl Kitson (Dawn Chaitram); son-in-law Frank Olthof; grandchildren Mara Berube (Stefan), Joshua Chaitram, Casey Olthof, Kendra Olthof and Dylann Olthof; and great-grandchildren Judah and Ophelia Berube. She is also survived by her sisters Gladys, Sylvia, and Sharon; brother Brian; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, family and friends including those at Gateway Church.
A private Celebration of Life will be held. Pastor Peter Todd of Gateway Church will officiate.
