Obituary of Tracy Pierce

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tracy Pierce (nee Hunnie) on April 8, 2023. Our beautiful wife, mother, granny, sister, aunt and friend left us far too soon after a courageous battle with cancer. Tracy passed away peacefully while surrounded by love. Tracy will be forever remembered and missed by her loving spouse Brett Hill; her daughters Carla (Stew) and Erin (Bryan); her stepsons Derek (Tina) and Jared (Kelsey). She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Jordyn, Austin and Carson, Addy and Olivia, Tyler and Emmett. She will be sadly missed by numerous family members and countless friends. Tracy was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Ruby, her brothers Robert and Collin, and her sister Gerry. Tracy was born on September 9, 1961 in Selkirk, Mb, the youngest of 14 children. She grew up in Narol, Mb and attended Kildonan-East for high school. Tracy worked in a few different fields after moving to Winnipeg before choosing to stay home to raise her girls. In 1992, she took on a career at Avo Marine for 27 years until her health prevented her from continuing. During her time at Avo, she made many friends and even met her love, Brett. Family was the most important thing to Tracy. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and would do anything for them. She was always there for her family in every way she could be. Whether it was taking care of her grandchildren, shopping for you, planning events, helping at events, teaching you to drive, puppy-sitting, helping you move, cheering you on at a soccer game, swimming lessons or recital (the list goes on and on), she was there for you, no questions asked. She was our biggest fan. She was selfless and giving and put everyone else first. She loved to host and cook for her family. Her and Brett’s traditional New Year’s Day feasts were always a time that many family members and friends looked forward to, along with many other events they planned. No one ever left her house hungry, and she probably sent you home with a few containers of her delicious leftovers. She was known for her famous perogies. Tracy loved having family and friends around. To her, friends were family. She always made time for them. She really enjoyed being a part of the James Gang, and had a great time at their Goldeyes games and golf tournaments. Tracy loved animals, and they loved her, too. Her favourite memories include taking care of horses when she was younger and going horseback riding in her free time. She adored her grand-puppies and always had a pocket full of treats for them. Tracy loved spending the summer months at the cabin at Rock Lake. September long weekends were a special time for her at the lake, especially when she earned the title of September Long Weekend World Cribbage Champ! She enjoyed many road trips across Canada and the United States with Brett, train trips to Alberta, B.C. and Churchill, and most recently a trip to Southern Europe to join a Mediterranean cruise in October/November, 2022. Tracy was a ray of light. She lit up every room she walked into with her radiant smile. Everybody who knew her, loved her. She had the ability to connect with and strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. She gave the best hugs, and even taught the Hills to hug! We are going to miss her, her laughter and her hugs so very much. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the doctors and nurses at CancerCare and the Palliative Care Ward at the St. Boniface Hospital, along with her close friends who went above and beyond to help Tracy and the family. Please join the family for a celebration of life on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 215 at 1:00pm at 215 Maxwell King Dr., East St. Paul, MB. There will be an opportunity for guests to share memories about Tracy at the celebration.
