Obituary of Rita Helene Lacombe
It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Rita Lacombe (née Dufault) on April 9, 2023, at the age of 79. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honour her by sharing her stories and cherishing every memory made.
Rita is survived by her sisters Jacqueline D’Auteuil and Gisele (Frank) Vinci and her brother Gerry (Marge) Dufault, along with many nieces and nephews.
Rita was predeceased by her sister Eveline and brother-in-law Maurice Chabot, brother Rudy and sister-in-law Deloris Dufault, brother Leo Dufault, sister Raymonde and brother-in-law Charles, sister Yvette Trumbla and brother-in-law Athanase D’Auteuil.
Rita was devoted to her family, her faith in God and living life to the fullest. Rita was born in Ile Des Chenes, Manitoba to Israel and Gracia Dufault. She was one of 12 children. Rita worked with the Government of Manitoba as an accounting coordinator and retired in 2009.
Rita was an awesome hostess and cook who loved to share her recipes. A love of gardening lead to many canned tomatoes, salsa and very hot peppers. She enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and five hundred (la dame to pique). Rita loved to read her weekly magazine which included her crossword puzzle. Her smile and sparkling eyes would light up a room. Although she never had children, she was very proud of all of her nieces and nephews and their children. She would brag about their accomplishments and had a real concern for their wellbeing.
Her love for music included Nana Mouskouri and Elvis Presley.
Rita had a strong Catholic faith and loved to attend the services at St. Timothy’s Parish. Rita was a smart dresser and always wanted to look her best. Her infectious smile lit up every room she entered. We will miss her dearly but know that she will never be forgotten. We will find peace in her passing by remembering all of the good times we had with Rita.
A Celebration of Life and a memorial mass will be held on Friday April 21. 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Timothy’s Church, 135 John Forsyth Road.
A reception will follow. Interment at a later date.
