My first interactions with Jackie were at Manitoba Health where she was my first supervisor. She expected the best and she got it - she was a little scary. I remember when I thought I could refuse to work overtime on a Saturday - she certainly set me straight. She also was fiercely protective of her staff and did not suffer fools even standing up to management. Later on we became very good friends - working at the race track for fun, enjoying a few at the Kings Plate pub and getting to know many people together. She is the only person I ever knew who ironed her jeans! She taught me how to make perogies at my first apartment. I've never done it again. We spent all day cooking and they were gone in minutes!! She was a close friend who could lift your spirits, cry with you, and oh her laughter still rings in my heart. I am so happy to have known her, served as her bridesmaid and socialized with her. Although we lost touch in later years, she will be missed. My sincere condolences to Harvey and Michele and all who knew and loved her.
