For more than 30 years I would most often be Jimmy's first customer of the day. John would holler in his deep voice "right up; no waiting" and Jimmy would do his thing. We would talk about the track, the sports results, the everyday customers that we all had come to know at Jimmy's stand. It was our gathering spot; our "waterhole". Jimmy was always genuinely interested in how my family was doing and my kids in return loved visiting and hopping up on the stand for an "uncle Jimmy shine"! Every birthday Jimmy ALWAYS had a card for me and my wife; a simple but very very kind gesture. That was Jimmy; a bit of a rough exterior but all heart inside!! Gonna miss my buddy; and, THE BEST SHINE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!!!!
