Obituary of Mark Allan Gary Jonson
Mark Allan Gary Jonson, 53, accidently passed away June 21, 2023. He was born in Calgary on December 6, 1969.
Mark is survived by his three older brothers Russell, Neil, and Derek (Sarah Hall); his 19-year-old daughter Emma Saunders in Thunder Bay; and by many aunties, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
He was predeceased by his parents Gerarda (Gerri) and Kenneth Jonson.
Mark had a close relationship with his nephews Garrett and George. They were like the sons he never had.
When Mark was young he enjoyed camping and fishing with his Dad and brothers. He loved watching tv and playing games on the computer. He probably watched every single episode of MASH ever made.
He also drove his dirt bike fearlessly.
He worked as a semi driver for most of his life, sometimes hauling two trailers. For a long period, he drove through northern Ontario which is not an easy thing to do. Sometimes he hit deer or moose and inevitably a vehicle would stop and ask if he could have the roadkill. His last job was driving dump trucks.
Mark loved dogs and as soon as he moved out he got a dog from the WHS. When she died, he got another dog from the WHS.
Mark did not have an easy life. He was born with one side of his pelvis not connected to his spine. Surgery is very risky so he lived with a lot of pain, especially as he got older. His Dad passed away suddenly when Mark was only 13. He went everywhere with his Dad, so this was very hard on him. He also was very close to his Mom and she passed away in 2018.
Mark was laid back, approachable and had a good sense of humour. He enjoyed going on Facebook in his spare time.
May he now rest in peace with his Mom and Dad.
He will not be forgotten.
