Obituary of James Raymond Savinkoff

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Raymond Savinkoff on Aug 7, 2023 at the Extendicare Red River Place in Selkirk. He passed away peacefully with his wife Sharen, sister-in-law Debbie Laba and friend James Trowsdale by his side. He will always be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Sharen and biological son Kenneth D. Rempel (Greta) and biological grandchildren Ty Rempel; Katy Schmidt (Blake) and Summer Rempel. He will be missed by his current furry friends Missy LuLu, Suzy Q and Miss Gracey.

Thank you to Dr. Clovechok and the doctors, nurses, aides, food service workers and cleaning staff at the Pinawa Hospital, and at Red River Place the Personal Care Home in Selkirk.  Everyone treated James with respect and kindness.

Many thanks to the ones who were with James on his final journey in life.   Special thanks to sister-in-law Debbie Laba, lifelong friend James Trowsdale and our Ohio friends to include John Lehman, John Walsh, Mark Knolle, Cindy Duty, Nate Stabler, Ed Sprout, Jay Thompson, Scott Rooks, Bill Taylor, Mike Stalnaker and the Promanco moving crew; and Debbie & Eric Cunningham for being there through it all.

We made many friends during our 26 years working for John Lehman in the Sonic Drilling industry.  While living in Ohio James was able to get his private pilots license and indulge in flying a Piper Cherokee anywhere we wanted (weather permitting) in the U.S. and Canada.

A Celebration of Life will take place Friday September 8, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the Redeemer Luther Church, 135 Henderson Ave, Whitemouth, Manitoba.

A 2nd Celebration of Life will take place in Marietta, Ohio in the fall of 2023.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada for Frontotemporal Dementia Research or a charity of your choice are appreciated.

Family and friends are invited to visit James’s memorial page at www.alternacremation.ca where memories and condolences may be shared.
