Obituary of Rene Normand Lachance

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Rene Lachance passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side on October 21, 2023 at the Grace Hospital.

Rene was born on August 9, 1939 in St. Eustache, Manitoba.  He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 55 years Beverley; son Kevin (Carrie), grandchildren Dylan, Kayden and Cassidy; son Jamie (Leigh), grandchildren Scott and Piper; siblings Adrien, Lucille Ridley, Anita Wold (Curt) and Carole O’Malley; sister-in-law Corinne Cyca; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Clement and Bernadette (Rivard); brother-in-law Bill Ridley and sister Pauline, and brother-in-law Alvin Shirtliff, sister-in-law Ida Lachance; in-laws Frank and Mary Cyca; brother-in-law Gerald Cyca and David Silcock.

Rene worked as a self-employed contractor for many years until retiring in 2013.  He enjoyed golfing and fishing.  We spent 36 years at Pye’s Trailer Park at Pye’s Landing at Clearwater Bay, Ontario.

Rene and Bev loved to travel.  Trips included across Canada and the United States, Mexico, Cuba,  Dominican Republic and the Maritimes.  Travelling ended with Rene’s health condition in 2018.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kansara, Dr. Dirks, Dr. Grooda and nurses Chris and Sam on 5 North at the Grace Hospital for taking care of Rene.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 11:00 am at Saint John Brebeuf Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Place, Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or the Lung Association.
