Obituary of Colin William Bartlett

It is with profound grief and much love that we announce the peaceful passing of Colin Bartlett on November 5, 2023, at the age of 52. Colin will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years and high school sweetheart, Nadine and their daughters, Deidre and Lauren or as Colin referred to them, his BBGs “Beautiful Bartlett Girls.” Also left to mourn are Colin’s father, Bill, sister, Julie, mother-in-law, Linda, brother-in-law Richard (Yasmin), and nieces Aliyah and Ava, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Colin was predeceased by his mother Frances and father-in-law Richard.

Colin will leave a lasting legacy as a beloved husband, devoted father, dedicated friend, and distinguished business leader. Colin lived most of his life in Winnipeg and was a graduate of  John Taylor Collegiate and the University of Manitoba with a degree in Economics and a Certified Professional Accounting (CPA) designation.

Colin loved Nadine and their daughters more than words can describe and was so incredibly proud of the women in his life. Colin and Nadine were best friends sharing a love that was evident to all who had the privilege of witnessing it. Together they embarked on countless adventures traveling to their favourite places. Their travels were not just adventures, they were a testament to their deep connection and shared dreams. Colin was also a self-described “girl-dad” who spent countless hours teaching his daughters to play all of the sports that he excelled at in his youth, with a special focus on basketball. In the early years, Colin also coached his daughters but later decided that it was better left to the experts. As his girls progressed with basketball, there was nothing he loved more than watching them play at school, with team Manitoba, and later together on the University of Manitoba Bisons. Following in their dad’s footsteps, both daughters have pursued careers in business and Colin was always there to provide support with solving complex business cases and to provide loving words of encouragement. He would say to his daughters, never doubt yourself and always think, “why not me?”

In the professional realm, Colin was the Managing Director of the Mid-West Region for Rogers Communications. While he was an accountant by trade, Colin loved sales and led the Mid-West Region to unprecedented heights. Colin described his career at Rogers as his dream job, and while he loved sales, what truly mattered to him were the relationships that he made along the way with colleagues from across Canada and customers. His team in the Mid-West were like family to him and the senior leadership at Rogers were always his champion, and for that he was sincerely grateful.

Colin’s legacy extends far beyond his career. He was also committed to giving back to the community and supporting business development in Manitoba. Colin served as a Director and Vice-Chair on the Board of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce and was a strong supporter of United Way initiatives including serving as Chair of its annual golf tournament.

Colin had a true passion for golf and was a member at Elmhurst Golf and Country Club for 25 years also serving on the Board as Treasurer. During his time at Elmhurst, Colin developed many lasting friendships that were incredibly important to him.

Colin embraced each day with positivity and a zest for life that was contagious. Whether it was spending time with his family or attending a lively gathering, Colin had a way of turning ordinary moments into extraordinary memories, and those memories will live on in the smiles he sparked, the laughter he shared, and the love he spread.

A celebration of Colin’s life will take place on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Elmhurst Golf and Country Club.
