Obituary of Martin Koslowsky

On November 10, 2019, Martin passed away at the Selkirk regional Health Centre at the age of 79 years with his family by his side. He was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer last Christmas.

Martin was born on August 28, 1940, in Hochfeld, Russia. His family left Hochfeld in 1943 and made their way to Canada. They arrived in Steinbach, Manitoba, and finally settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba around 1948.

In 1965, Martin married Hannah Koop. Together they had 5 children - Karl (Rosie), Fred (Sheena), Gisela, Ursula (Pat) and Ben (Nicole). Martin will be missed by his wife and children, and his 10 grandchildren - Kyle, Cameron, Brian, Harley, Splendid, Isaiah, Elia, Eden, Lily and Sarah.

Martin taught drafting, woodworking, and shops for 35+ years. He is often remembered fondly by past students. Martin loved the outdoors and had a particular fondness for soaking up the Manitoba summer sunshine. He was extremely proud of all of his grandchildren and loved celebrating their accomplishments and interests.

Martin was a person who was willing to help anyone in need and would give a helping hand whenever called on. He was particularly gifted in fixing small motors - he was a mechanic like his dad.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, CancerCare Manitoba and all the family and friends who supported him throughout his illness.

In accordance with Martins wishes, cremation has taken place; an intimate family/friend funeral and celebration of his life will take place at a future date.
