WINNIPEG, MB:  Alterna Cremation, a locally owned and operated funeral home providing dignified direct cremation services, is now offering custom-engraved keepsakes to the families in its care.  Such keepsakes are available in a wide variety of different styles and can be a treasured way to keep a loved one close after they have passed on.

Alterna Cremation was founded in 2019 with the vision of providing compassionate, straightforward, and affordable cremation services to families and loved ones in need.  Founder and owner Ashley Newton, a young woman in the traditionally male-dominated funeral industry, soon found clients drawn to her integrity, kindness, and simple approach.  To date, Alterna has served hundreds of families and has a dedicated location at 2495 Henderson Highway.  Its services encompass pre-planning final arrangements and grief support resources, as well as direct cremation services.

Recognizing the desire for keepsakes by the families in her care, Ashley Newton single-handedly researched and selected a laser-engraving machine, taught herself how to operate it, and is now producing custom-engraved keepsakes for her client families.  No stranger to being a self-starter, Newton has taken this new project in her stride with confidence and determination.  “When someone you love becomes a memory,” she says, “that memory becomes a treasure.  These beautiful custom keepsakes are designed to treasure those memories.”

Alterna Cremation offers a selection of different cremation keepsakes, including urns, tealight urns, decorations, and jewelry.  Keepsakes often incorporate the cremated ashes of a loved one, and many can be engraved.  Fingerprint engraving, where the actual fingerprint or thumbprint of a loved one is memorialized in metal, can be particularly meaningful for keeping a deceased loved one close to the heart.  Fingerprints can be custom-engraved on necklaces, bracelets, keychains, or other metal keepsakes.
