My husband Bill and I knew Skip for many years, beginning when he was the Rector at St. Paul’s College. We always admired his intelligence, his knowledge and opinions regarding world affairs and other major topics of interest, and his considerable tennis skills, which were occasionally displayed on the courts at Victoria Beach, our summer location. We were warmed by Skip’s friendship, his appreciation, and his terrific sense of humour.
We are indebted to Skip for bringing Hildegarde Sen into our group. What a lovely and talented woman she was.
We and the rest of the New Years/UC3 group miss you Skip.
Rest In Peace. Deanne McDonald

i am so sorry to learn that Skip Kane has passed away. I had been asking friends if they knew how Skip was doing, because I have not seen him since Hildegarde died. We sometimes met for coffee after Mass at St.Ignatius, and he was as curious about the world - especially how his investments were doing - as I had ever known him. He liked to laugh, and he sometimes expressed wonder that he had been appointed Rector of St. Paul's College so soon after he earned his doctorate. Skip was much liked by historians at the University of Manitoba when I first joined it in 1996. Indeed I first met him at a Christmas/New Year's party organized by a historian, to which my husband and I had also been invited.
Skip Kane was a good and decent man. May he rest in peace now.

I’ve known Harold for many years as we both worked at Manitoba Health. I’m very grateful that we were able to get together before Christmas. Harold was still interested in world events and still had his great sense of humour.
You will be missed. RIP
