Rose-Aimée Blouin

Obituary of Rose-Aimée Blouin

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rose-Aimée Blouin on February 28th, 2021. Rose was born in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan to Napoleon and Julienne (Cantin) D’Aoust on January 23rd, 1924. She was the eldest of seven children – Rose, Cécile, Armand, Emile, Juliette, Joseph and Ernest. She spent most of her childhood and into her teen years living in Laflèche, Saskatchewan, before her and her family moved to Maillardville, B.C. She married her soulmate and loving husband René on January 20th, 1943. They lived together with the Blouin family in the original Blouin homestead in St. Lazare, Manitoba before moving to Saskatchewan. They had 5 children together – Ronald, Jeannine, Lorraine, Doris and Denis. Rose and René owned and operated an upholstery business for 50 years in the town of Gravelbourg. This fashionable lady also worked in retail for many years in order to make her dream come true, becoming the proud owner of a women’s clothing store - ‘Chez Rose’. She was well known for numerous years of dedication to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, serving as vice president and president. She loved hosting large gatherings with family and friends, where guests enjoyed plenty of food, card games and ‘old-time’ music. The Blouin house in Gravelbourg, was a gathering place for fun and laughter. The last chapter of her life was spent at L’Acceuil Colombien in Winnipeg (St. Boniface), surrounded by family, her special friend and loyal companion - Jean Lafrenière, along with many dear friends and care providers. Rose was very much the center of her family, a loving woman with great dignity, generosity and kindness. She was a natural connector, and people were drawn to her big smile, warm heart, sincerity and wonderful sense of humour. She was a strong and determined woman, with an independent spirit and “joie de vivre”. Despite losing this precious lady, we are consoled that she is finally reunited with her husband René (1999); son Ron (2010); daughters Lorraine Loiselle (1993) and Jeannine (1944); along with countless other family members and very special friends. She will be forever in the hearts of daughter Doris Blouin Lachance (Julien Lachance); son Denis Blouin (Angela); grandchildren Chantal Gibson (Scott), Jean Claude Lachance (Shabnam), Dominic and Natalie Blouin, Jude (Maria), François and Gaetan Blouin (Corinne), Brigitte Mior (Robert), and Joel (Lynn) and Guylaine Loiselle; great-grandchildren Renée Quiring, Damian, Eric and Brendan Blouin, Jordan and Angelina Mior, Geneviève and Xavier Loiselle, Tristan Willman and Louie Gibson; and great-great grandchild Annie Quiring. She is also survived by brother Joseph Deaust; daughters-in-law Joan Bolen and Suzanne Blouin; son-in-law Ronny Loiselle; as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly cherished. She has left a long legacy of strength, compassion, courage and faith. The family would like to give a heart felt thank you to all the wonderful people who have helped and supported our dear mother along the way... from the employees at L’Accueil Colombien, to her home care workers, all her doctors and nurses, and spiritual care providers. A funeral mass and graveside service will be held at a later date in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. Please no flowers or gifts... cherished memories are most welcome! “Love you forever Rose, until we meet again.” “Notre chère Rose, tu seras toujours dans nos coeurs.”
