Our condolences to Dan, Linda, and family.
Ever since my family moved from Winnipeg to California at the age of six and then to Texas, I knew my birthday was coming when the card from my Aunt Vera and Uncle George arrived. It was always a day or two early so it would not be late. She never missed my birthday; and you knew she was the one sending them. Once in my early sixties the card did not come, and I don’t mind saying, I was upset. But on the day, the phone call came with wishes and an explanation about the missing card. Since my marriage to my lovely wife, Diana, Vera included her in the birthday calls. Though only over the phone, the two of them became close family. When our fist grandson showed up in 2017, we were graced with the hand-knitted outfit she made at the age of 87. Aunt Vera, my wife and I spoke often on the phone in recent years and twice while she was in hospital, always a joy. She loved her brothers, one of which was my father, and that love was felt. If this were hand-written you would see the tears on the page. God, take her to Your bosom and grant her eternal life.
