To Lorrie, Barb and family,
Our family met Bud when he moved to Calgary to be with our good friend, Dee. Brother and sister were very close and whenever we met for dinner or other social events, Bud came along and we got to know him. He was a very social person, and we heard lots of stories about Lorrie and Garfield "up north" and the Winnipeg hi jinx of Barb and her family. And he mentioned Jean so often. He and Dee went on a few adventures together on the ice road to Tuk to visit Lorrie and Garfield.
He heard that my grade one class was going on a field trip to a one room schoolhouse at Heritage Park and brought me a copy of the attendance record of his one room schoolhouse in Saskatchewan, with his name, "Buddy" Knudtson there with good attendance. I used it during my field trip.
For Christmas, he gave all the girls in the Wilderman family socks with horses on them. Very cool, and thoughtful for someone living on his own.
And then, he started his "bacon and eggers" with the help from Barb and Dee. Lots of fun with all of the new and old friends he had made in Calgary. And they were good! But he confessed that "the girls" had told him he should have such an event to pay back everyone who had him for dinner over the years.
And he called my husband Jim after he moved to Winnipeg to tell us that "he liked it very much and really appreciated seeing the family so much."
A lovely and interesting man who cared for his family dearly.

I fondly look back at all the times I spent playing cards with Bud and the gang. We had a lot of laughs over the years, and I will dearly miss him.
Bud and I had an ongoing debate over A&W Bacon and Eggers buns. He insisted that the buns were better in Saskatchewan. So to settle this, I took a road trip to Saskatchewan, stopped at an A&W and asked the manager if I could buy some buns after explaining my ongoing argument with Bud. They laughed and then sold me a dozen buns. I took a picture of the staff and manager to prove to him that I was there. It turns out that the buns taste the same in Saskatchewan as they do in Alberta. So we made our own Bacon and Eggers at Bud's place and ate those darn buns and never talked about them again. After that was settled, we found something else to disagree about, of course!
My condolences to Barb, Lorrie, and their families.

I got the chance to meet Bud during my hospital stay at Concordia Hospital. After being his roommate for almost 2 weeks I soon discovered how inspiring and amazing he was. Each day as I learned about his life's journey I was amazed with everything he had accomplished! I loved how he always talked about his family, his grand-puppies and his daily shot of liquor. Now on a windy day I will always think of Bud, as he would always ask me how windy it looked outside the window. He was never impressed with my answer as he always replied "Winnipeg has always been so windy in comparison to the other places I have been".
I am sending my condolences to Barb and family.

My condolences to Bud’s family. I enjoyed the many years of golf with him at the Wascana, especially the 19th hole! The obit picture “ring for a beer” couldn’t be more fitting.
