As one of Mark's 52 first cousins on the Buhler side (his Mom's maiden name) I didn't get to know him as well as I would have like to. When my husband and i moved into Transcona we did see him here and there and as has been mentioned before, he was always friendly and kind. I remember talking about Shannon's recovery after her fall. I'm so glad to hear that he was able to travel with family and friends and retired early to make that happen. My prayers go out to Shannon, the immediate family and also the extended family.

I met Mark last winter at Bentsen Grove Resort in Texas. He and Shannon were so easy to get to know, it seems like we have been friends for years! I was shocked and saddened at Mark's passing!
Shannon and Family, may God bless and comfort you as you grieve. You are in my prayers.

I met Mark approx 4.5 years ago when he trained me to become a driving instructor. I was ecstatic I got Mark to be my trainer as I heard sooo many amazing things about him. They were true. He was educated, personable , comforting in my new position and unbelievably helpful. I was so nervous starting out and Mark would take all my calls of panic and a zillion questions. He just seemed to have a way to make one feel comfortable and confident. He sent many a student to me in the last 3 years as well, Which made me feel honoured that he felt I was good enough. I was however taught by one of the best ( thanks Mark) We also quickly made a connection between his sister in law Maureen and I. I’ve know Maureen for about 40 years now.
Kind, caring, willing to help every time I called, not to mention that laugh… that is what I’ll remember most. He’d light up with that big smile when he laughed.
To Marks family… I am deeply sorry, I won’t even try to imagine. Mark has clearly impacted many… I’m so thankful to be one of the lucky ones.
Paying it forward in your honour Mark.

We have so many memories of Mark that we can’t even begin to go through them all. We have literally traveled the world with Mark and Shannon, be it cruises, camping, road trips, and cottages. Mark is such a likable human being, when he mentioned that they would be in Texas and if we were in the neighborhood, we should pop in for a drink. We did. Mark is the kind of individual that a 1900 kilometer drive is well worth it. We hated asking Mark for help, but only because he would drop everything and rush over to help. If we asked him if he had a table saw to lend us, he would bring the saw, another saw (just in case) and then another saw. And then he would hang around for a few hours and do most of the job for us, even though he probably had a lot of other things to do on his agenda. We had so many future plans that we hoped would include Mark, that it is hard to believe he won’t be there to make those moments that much more enjoyable. We have lost a great friend and will certainly miss him for the rest of our lives……. Gail and Steve Ramsay

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear brother in law and friend Mark. His kindness, friendship and his great laugh will be missed by everyone that the privilege of having Mark in their lives.
My earliest memory of Mark was this friendly, kind and happy guy that Shannon started dating in high school. He very quickly became a member of our family.
