Obituary of Shirley Ann Todoschuk (nee: Achtemichuk)

It is with great sadness that we announce Shirley Todoschuk passed away at the age of 69 years, at Riverview Health Center, in Winnipeg, MB on October 2, 2022. Left to cherish Shirley’s memory are her children Warren (Jennifer), Michelle Bilou (Barry) and Kristy Poulin (Terry); their father Richard Todoschuk; grandchildren Colbe and Maya Todoschuk, Brayden and Carter Stephens and Lily and Ivy Poulin; her goddaughter Niki Read; and she will be lovingly remembered by her partner Randy Larsen and her dog Montana. Shirley was predeceased by her parents Vicky and Alex Achtemichuk; brother Robert Achtemichuk; and granddaughter Avery Todoschuk, as well as her beloved dog Sammy. Shirley was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan on July 1, 1953. She grew up on the farm in Stornoway, Saskatchewan. Shirley graduated from Yorkton Comprehensive Institute in 1971. After a brief move to Calgary, Shirley married Richard Todoschuk in 1973. Soon after Warren was born, they settled on the farm in The Pas, Manitoba. Shirley enjoyed life on the farm, tending to her gardens, flowers, animals, as well as raising her children. Shirley was employed at The Pas Health Complex for 25 years, retiring in 2009. During this time Shirley met many friends who she enjoyed working with. She attained her journeyman cook license. She was an amazing cook and could cook a Ukrainian dish with perfection. After retirement, Shirley moved to Winnipeg. She often said life was busier after retirement, as she involved herself with the grandchildren and their activities, friends, exercise classes and travels. Her favourite place to travel being Hawaii. More recently Shirley enjoyed spending her time between Togo, Saskatchewan and Winnipeg, Manitoba. Shirley was a dedicated Shitzu mom, and ensured her dogs, Montana and Sammy, were spoiled with many walks and treats. The family would like to thank all who were involved in Shirley’s care. Dr. D. Breckman, Dr. C. Harlos, Marisa Rodrigues, WRHA palliative care team (nurses Lana and Angie) and the staff at Riverview Health Centre unit 3E. Service to be held at Wolkowski Funeral Home, 445 Park Street West, Kamsack Saskatchewan on Tuesday, October 11 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers donations, can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society Animal Companionship Program.
