Obituary of Frederick Lorne Anderson

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Fred leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 67 years, Nola; his daughters Debbie (Bob), Kim (Glen); sons Fred and Bill (Shauna); grandchildren Kenneth (Shannon), Gary (Jess), Bryan (Stefani), Nolan, Brayden, Lauren, Jade, Avery and Gemma; and great grandchildren Katelyn, Allie, Amelia and Hayden. Fred is also survived by his sister Joanne (Barney) Dram, brother-in-law Bob (Evelyn) Riznek; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Fred Anderson and Nan Hill; stepfather Chris Hill; twin sister Lorraine Carlson; brother-in-law Ed Carlson; and in-laws Bill and Anne Elenduik. Fred was born in Loni Beach MB and while he lived most of his life in Manitoba, his career as a police officer took him to Marathon and Tillsonburg Ontario where he was the Chief of Police. He returned to Winnipeg with his family and retired as a Supervisor of the Bureau of Police Records at the Winnipeg Police Service in 1991. He spent his early retirement years at the cottage in Beaver Creek, a condo in Gimli and then returning to Winnipeg to live his final years surrounded by family and friends. His request for cremation has been granted and he will be laid to rest by his immediate family at a later date. The family would like to thank the caring and kind staff including Doctors, Nurses and Health Care Aides on the 7th floor Surgery ward and the Palliative care ward at the St Boniface hospital. Our father was well cared for and the kindness shown to our family will forever be appreciated. We would also like to thank the many Homecare workers, but especially Simone and Julia, that enabled Fred and Nola to remain together in their home until a few months ago. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice or to Cancercare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg MB, R3E 0V9
